Qualifications Valued Around the World
Canada’s high academic standards and rigorous quality controls mean that you’ll be earning a high-quality education that will open doors for your future and benefit your career over the long term. A Canadian degree, diploma or certificate is globally recognized as being equivalent to those obtained from the United States or Commonwealth countries.
Affordable Education
The quality of education and living standards in Canada are amongst the highest in the world, but the cost of living and tuition fees for international students are generally lower than in other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. As such, Canada is often the preferred choice for students attending college or university.
Multicultural Society
With almost all of the world’s ethnic groups represented in Canada, it’s hard not to find ethnic foods and recreation activities associated with specific cultures. In fact, your international student advisor can help you get in touch with any number of ethnic clubs and associations for you to join while you’re here.
Healthy and Safe Communities
While you may have heard of or experienced Canadians’ friendly and open nature, you may not have known that the United Nations consistently ranks Canada as one of the best places in the world to live. As an international student in Canada, you’ll enjoy all of the same freedoms which protect Canadians – respect for human rights, equality, and a stable and peaceful society.
World-class Language Education
Did you know that Canada is a bilingual country and is considered a world leader in language training? Since teaching French and English as a first and second language is an integral part of a Canadian education, you will be able to improve your fluency and capacity for either language as you further your studies.
Exciting Campus Lifestyle
Canada’s post-secondary campuses aren’t only wired with the latest in sophisticated technology, but countless other modern amenities as well. From Olympic-quality sports facilities to public concert halls and art galleries, Canada’s post-secondary campuses offer you enormous possibilities for learning and leisure. Plus, you’ll have incredible opportunities to meet like-minded individuals and gain valuable experience through student-run governments, radio, newspapers and businesses.
Innovative and Abundant Research Opportunities
Since research is one of the key components of a Canadian post-secondary education, you’ll have ample opportunity to become a part of this vibrant aspect of education. In Canada, the government and industry together support research including: telecommunications, medicine, agriculture, computer technology, and environmental science.
Work While Study
The option to work while studying is one of the decision-making criteria for prospective international students finalizing their education destination. International students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program at a Designated Learning Institute (DLI) can work up to 20 hours per week during school terms and full-time (30+ hours/week) during scheduled breaks, such as the summer holidays. Most students don’t need a work permit to work while they study, whether their job is on-campus or off-campus.
Work on-campus:
Students can only start working in Canada when they start their study program which lists a condition that says you’re allowed to work on- or off-campus.
“On-campus” means students can work at all the buildings on their College campus. If Colleges have more than one campus, they may only work at the campus where they are studying in most cases.
Post Study Work Permit
- Students can start their new program within 150 calendar days of receiving the confirmation of previous program completion.
- Students can receive up to 1 year Work Permit if they apply for a 1 year course.
- Students can receive up to 3 year Work Permit if they apply for 2 or 4 year courses.
Possibility of Immigration
Did you know that some international students with Canadian credentials and Canadian work experience may apply for permanent residency without having to leave Canada? For more information about the possibility of immigration to Canada once your schooling is complete, please visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

On-Campus Housing: Many schools in Canada offer accommodation located on or near campus in the form of dormitories/residence halls, townhouses, and apartments. Dormitories (dorms) are larger buildings housing many students, and townhouses are detached, housing usually three to six students.
Dorm rooms vary in size and quality: they usually have a shared kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facility and are managed directly by the school. Many dorms also contain a dining hall which students can purchase a meal plan to utilize. Often separated by gender, you’ll likely have one or two roommates sleeping in the room with you. Townhouses are designed for three to six students with single-occupancy rooms (this means no on sharing rooms, but a living space as a whole) and a main floor containing a kitchen and living room area. This type of accommodation is generally reserved for third or fourth year students. The majority of Canadian students in their first and second years of study do prefer to stay on campus. As an international student, you might find that living in the dorms makes it easier to make friends and to save on transportation costs. The average cost for on-campus housing is about $3,000 – $7,500 CAD per school year.
Off-Campus Housing: When looking for private, off-campus housing, trying checking with your school’s housing office or student union office on campus for a list of nearby rental units. A house is generally too expensive for one student to rent alone, so often multiple students will opt to share or rent suites within a larger house. Apartments that contain one to three bedrooms are also an option. Most rental properties are not furnished. Private rentals require that you sign a lease, which is a legal document stating your responsibility as a tenant. These responsibilities include things like paying rent on time, keeping the premises clean, repairing any damages caused by you or your guests, and not disturbing other tenants. Landlords may also add various rules and conditions to the lease, so make sure to read the document carefully before signing. Always ask for a copy of any paperwork you sign. Your landlord also has responsibilities, such as keeping the premises in good condition. In emergency situations, the landlord does have the right to enter your dwelling unannounced – otherwise advance notice must be given a reason for the request. If the landlord needs you to vacate the premises, 60 days advance notice is usually required, but be sure to read your lease, as terms may vary. Price, quality, and availability of off-campus accommodations will differ. You should expect to pay from C$400-C$1,500 per month depending on the city and neighborhood you choose, and whether you have any co-tenants.

Work on-campus:
Students can only start working in Canada when they start their study program which lists a condition that says you’re allowed to work on- or off-campus.

I dropped out of university in USA due to COVID – 19. Later in 2021, I decided to apply for further education in Canada. Given my dropout scene, it is difficult to get a visa approval. Fortunately, I met the right team who helped me score an 8.5 on the IELTS, secure admission in one of the renowned colleges in Toronto, Seneca College, and prepared the best profile for visa. The ESPI team, especially Shweta ma’am, Jalpa ma’am and Deepak sir, were always available to guide me through the entire procedure, from filling the college application forms to completing the post-visa formalities. The team is extremely skilled and I never had to stress over anything. They got everything covered. They were with me every step of the way. I am grateful to them and couldn’t have done it without them. I have my highest recommendations for the ESPI Vadodara team.
